"Shun Cultism, bad company", DSP Nwode urges students as she bags excellent performance award.

Awka - Nigerian Students have been advised to be flee cultism in all its appearances and be mindful of bad company.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police in charge of Public Complaints and Anti-Piracy in Anambra State Command, Princess Nkiru Nwode who gave the charge when she received representatives of National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Ebonyi State, who called on her at the Command headquarters in Awka, also urged them to always be civil in expressing whatever grievances they have so as not to infringe the rights of others and as such incur the wrath of the law.

DSP Nwode who also during the visit received an award for excellent performance from the students, told them to be committed to their studies.

“I owe everything I am today to God’s grace. However, I will not be sincere if I do not add hard work, resilience and determination to succeed as some other ingredients to success.

“There are three pieces of advice that I have for you today; always trust in God in all your pursuit in life, never take any opportunity you get or person you meet for granted and shun cultism and other vices. Pray to God to unfriend yourself from any unfriendly friend,” Nwode said.

She also appreciated the students for deeming her fit for an award of excellence adding that the award would motivate her to do more in the area of selfless service to humanity.

The leader of the delegation and the Director, Personnel Affairs, NANS Zone B,  Comrade Joshua Onwe explained that the recognition was to appreciate her invaluable contributions towards re-branding the image of the Force in the State and to encourage her to do more.

Onwe, who is the Ebonyi State representative of the NANS, observed that Nwode, by standing out as a police officer and a humanitarian, had contributed in no small way towards reshaping the image of Nigeria Police Force as well as that of Ebonyi State indigenes.

In his words, “We are from a state which had before now been relegated to the background. But with the likes of you distinguishing yourself in your profession as a police officer and image maker of the Nigeria Police Force, you have made us proud of our state, Ebonyi state. Not only that, you have contributed immensely towards ensuring that the quota of police recruitment slots meant for Ebonyi was no longer lost to neighbouring state as it used to be. You have also assisted so many indigent student of Ebonyi origin with money to pay their fees. For these and more, we, the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Southeast/ Southsouth Zone B found you worthy of this award.”

The NANS rep then invited DSP Nwode to their forthcoming security summit in Ebonyi state to assist them in sensitizing the youths on the need to join the police force or any other enterprising venture.

“Your presence will motivate so many youths to work hard towards rediscovering themselves,” he said.

The students later met with the State Commissioner of Police, John Abang who admonished them to work closely with the Police in Ebonyi State to ensure safety of lives and property.
