Miss Onu is now in Basic 4, while Ajawa is in Basic 3.

The pronouncement of the scholarship was made last session, during the graduation ceremony of the school.

During a visit yesterday to ensure that the beneficiaries are in school, Hon Odinye said he was excited by their excellent performance during the graduation.

According to him, "I was touched to award them scholarship because of their intelligence. During the graduation, the Master of Ceremony asked who will recite a particular poem in Igbo language.  It was Onu Mmesomma that answered it correctly.

"On enquiry, I observed that Onu, from Abakiliki, had stopped school for a very long time, due to lack of fund.

"Her parents are very poor. But the irony of life is that the child is very brilliant. It was on this ground that I decided to take up the child's school fees till primary six.

Hon Odinye who urged them to remain focus and study hard, promised to extend the scholarship to secondary level if they sustain the tempo of academic excellence.

The Proprietor of the School, Mr Uzo Basil Azodo, promised to keep eyes on the pupils to ensure they meet every necessary requirement to excel academically.

Mr Azodo who disclosed that the school had been known for its academic excellence within and outside the state, commended Governor Willie Obiano for investing heavily in education and his lofty vision and policies that had projected education status in Anambra to global recognition.

In their separate remarks, the two pupils, Miss Onu Mmesoma,  and Miss Ajawa Kosisochukwu Maryjane promised live up to expectation.

The duo whose ambitions were to be medical doctors expressed gratitude to their benefactor, Hon odinye and prayed God to continue blessing him.

The pupils during their remarks shed tears of joy, as their parents had been relieved of school fees burden.
