It was a show of shamelessness and irresponsibility, as a student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) reportedly engaged a lecturer in the university in a fight, after he interrupted her while she was recording a dance video in a faculty corridor.
In a viral video, the student was seen dancing when the lecturer, identified as Dr. Chukwudi Michael Okoye from the Faculty of Arts, attempted to pass by and said, “Excuse me,” while tapping her.
The student reacted by glaring at him and saying, “Can you imagine? He just hit me.”
Another video captured a physical altercation between them, with the student aggressively grabbing the lecturer as onlookers, mostly students, tried to intervene.
Throughout the confrontation, Dr. Okoye kept his hands raised, seemingly to show he was not retaliating.
A widely shared statement, allegedly from the lecturer, claims he overheard the student insulting him after he walked past.
He then returned to identify whether she was one of his students and reportedly reached for her phone.
In response, the student allegedly bit him on both arms.
Photos shared online show visible bite marks on Dr. Okoye’s arm.
The student involved in the altercation is a 300-level student of History and International Studies. Reports also suggest she is the daughter of a lecturer in the university’s Engineering department.
