The race for who will be the running mate to the eventual candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance in the Anambra Governorship election scheduled for the 6th of November, 2021, has begun.
At the State APGA Secretariat on Tuesday, leaders of the various Unions in the Anambra State Transport Sector converged to express their solidarity with the candidacy of former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Professor Chukwuma Soludo.

Among the stakeholders who came on the visit were the representatives of the Keke Union, Park Managers Union, the Okada Union among others.
The transport stakeholders are also rooting for the state Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Chief Uchenna Okafor, to be the running mate of the Ex-CBN governor.
Making their intentions known to the State APGA leadership, the Chairman of the Keke Union in the state, Mr Sylvester Obiorah, said the visit was to express their solidarity with the party and the former Central Bank Governor, Professor Soludo.
He revealed that they took the decision because they believe that the interest of stakeholders and operators in the sector will be protected if Soludo becomes governor, especially with the assistance of the present Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Chief Okafor.
“We believe that if the Party will give the APGA ticket to Professor Soludo to contest the November 6 Governorship election, it won’t be a difficult task for the party to win the election due to the credibility of the candidate.
“We are also particular about our choice of Chief Okafor as the running mate because he has been the Transport Commissioner in this state and we know what he did in resolving the crises in the state transport sector and entrenched peace. Now that he has moved to the Commerce and Trade sector, his impact has also continued. So, we believe he has the managerial capabilities to assist such a person as Professor Soludo in transforming the state. He is also a grassroots mobilizer and will have no difficulty in mobilizing the people to vote APGA in the forthcoming election,” Obiorah enthused.
On his part, the Chairman, Park Managers Union in Anambra, Chief Albert Ibekwe harped on the need for their members to get their voters cards to be able to assist in enthroning a credible leadership in the state.
“We have looked at all the candidates coming out across the various political parties and we believe Soludo has what it takes. That’s why the entire transport sector in Anambra is supporting him,” he said.
Receiving his guests, the State Chairman of the Party, Chief Norbert Obi assured that the party’s primaries will be free, fair and transparent, maintaining that it has not endorsed any candidate.
The State APGA Chairman who explained that the party is committed to democratic tenets in the conduct of the primary, commended the group for their position, reminding them of the need for unity among the party.
